Understand partner access models for Surface support

For service providers and partners, Surface device service and support is done using Surface Support Portal. While service actions for Intune-enrolled devices can originate in Surface Management Portal, partner and service provider workflows are centered in Surface Support Portal, which serves as a hub for submitting and tracking requests.

The way you manage support actions depends on which tenant you're signed into at the time. Common access models include:

  • Partner uses the customer's tenant—this is the most common scenario.
  • Partner uses their own tenant—this is applicable in limited scenarios.
  • Partner manages multiple customer tenants.

Surface Support Portal access is tied to the tenant context used to submit and track service and support requests.

Remember, Surface Support Portal actions are performed in the context of a Microsoft tenant not an individual device.
