Exercise: Design a semantic model for scale in Fabric
In this exercise, you design a semantic model for scale in Microsoft Fabric by completing the following tasks:
- Connect to Fabric data sources using Direct Lake.
- Build a star schema with fact and dimension tables.
- Configure relationships with appropriate filter direction.
- Create a calculation group for time intelligence across multiple measures.
- Configure settings for scale: enable large semantic model storage format, configure XMLA endpoint access, and enable OneLake integration.
- Verify model behavior by confirming Direct Lake mode and checking fallback configuration.
This lab takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
