A blank canvas app gives you an empty design surface. You decide what screens to add, which controls to use, and how the app connects to data. This option works well when you want full control over the app layout and experience.
Prerequisites
Before you start, make sure that:
- You can sign in to Power Apps.
- You have the Environment Maker security role, either directly or through a Microsoft Dataverse team that uses the Microsoft Entra ID security group category. Custom security roles aren't currently supported for canvas app maker scenarios.
Create a blank canvas app
- Sign in to Power Apps.
- In the left navigation pane, select Create, and then select Create from blank.
- In the Start with a blank canvas dialog, choose the app size that fits your scenario: Responsive, Tablet size, or Phone size.
- If prompted, enter an app name, and then select Create.
Power Apps opens the app in Power Apps Studio, where you can start building and customizing it.
Next steps
After the app opens, continue with these common tasks:
- Save the app to the cloud.
- Add one or more data connections.
- Insert controls such as galleries, forms, buttons, and text inputs.
- Add formulas and screens to support your business process.
- Preview, test, and publish the app.
