I bought Publisher as a stand alone program when I purchased my laptop 10/26/2023. I don't need "support", just need to be able to use it after October 2026. Word is not any good to me for publishing a monthly newsletter. I would go back to WordPerfect if that were an option!

Publisher purchased as a standalone (perpetual) product can continue to be installed and used after October 2026, but it will no longer be supported.

    Key points for this scenario:

    1. Publisher end of life
      • In October 2026, Microsoft Publisher reaches end of life.
      • After that, it is no longer included in Microsoft 365, and existing on‑premises suites are no longer supported.
    2. Perpetual (standalone) Publisher
      • If Publisher was bought as a perpetual/standalone product (not as part of a Microsoft 365 subscription), it can still be installed and used beyond October 2026 even though support ends.
      • Support for the perpetual version ends on October 1, 2026, when Office LTSC 2021 reaches end of support, but the app itself does not stop working.
    3. Microsoft 365 subscription Publisher
      • This restriction mainly affects Microsoft 365 subscribers: after October 2026, Publisher will no longer be available for installation or download, and Microsoft 365 subscribers will no longer be able to open or edit Publisher files in Publisher.
    4. Preparing for the future
      • Even if continuing to use the standalone Publisher, it is recommended to convert important .pub files to other formats (for example, PDF for viewing, or via PDF→Word for editing) so they remain accessible if Publisher becomes unavailable on future devices.
