    Welcome Gina King!

Thank you for reaching out to the Q&A forum.

From what you described, I understand you purchased a Microsoft 365 subscription through PayPal but are currently unable to access the associated apps, and your Microsoft account dashboard is showing $0 activity despite the completed payment.

One possibility for this case is that the subscription was purchased under a different Microsoft account than the one currently signed in on your Windows PC. Please make sure that you paid for the correct Microsoft account. To check this:

Check your PayPal receipt > Open your PayPal transaction.

    Look for:

    • Merchant: Microsoft
    • Receipt email / Billing email

The email address listed there is the one that your Microsoft 365 subscription is tied to.

In certain situations, activation may be slightly delayed depending on how the payment is processed. Payments made through third‑party methods like PayPal may sometimes require a bit of additional processing time.

If after 24 hours the issue continues, please post back here and I’ll guide you on how to contact the Microsoft Support team for direct assistance. Since this is a user‑to‑user community forum, we can only share suggestions based on our findings and personal experience, and we're unable to access billing systems or handle account‑related issues directly.

Hope this could help. Please let me know how it goes so we could determine the best next steps!

Follow these steps to resolve the issue and regain access to the apps:

    1. Confirm the subscription status
      • On any device, go to the Services & subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services.
      • Sign in with the same Microsoft account used in the Office apps.
      • Check under the Microsoft 365 heading that the subscription shows as active and not expired, past due, or canceled.
    2. If the subscription shows as past due or payment failed
      • In Services & subscriptions, find the Microsoft 365 subscription and select Pay now if available.
      • Then go to your Payment options page: https://account.microsoft.com/billing/payments.
      • Verify that the PayPal payment method is valid and not showing an error. If there is an error, update or replace the payment method and complete the payment.
      • Note: Gift cards, subscription cards, or Microsoft account balance cannot be used to pay for a past-due subscription.
    3. If the subscription is active but apps still show locked or “subscription canceled”
      • Make sure the Office apps are signed in with the same Microsoft account that shows the active subscription.
      • In an Office app (for example Word) on Windows, go to File > Account, sign out, then sign back in with the correct account and use Update license (if available).
      • If you see a yellow bar saying “ACCOUNT NOTICE. We've run into a problem with your Microsoft 365 subscription and need your help to fix it.”, this is usually a payment issue; re-check steps 1–2.
    4. If the account or sign-in is blocked or not working
      • If you cannot sign in at all or see account lock messages, follow the guidance in the Microsoft account lock article and any aka.ms/ link shown during sign-in to unlock the account.
    5. If nothing updates after payment is fixed
      • Close all Office apps on Windows and Android.
      • Wait a short period, then sign in again to the apps with the account that shows the active subscription.
      • If the problem persists even though the subscription is active and payment is correct, contact Microsoft Support via the account or Microsoft 365 help channels for further investigation.

While locked out, it is still possible to open and print documents in reduced functionality mode, and Office Online at https://www.office.com/ can be used for basic editing in a browser.
