Registering a MacBook Pro for Microsoft 365

What you probably are seeing is for registering Microsoft products [Xbox, Surface tablets, keyboards & other accessories] for warranty purposes. It isn't for registering products from other vendors.

Yes, Word, Excel, Outlook, and the other Microsoft 365 apps can be installed and used on a MacBook Pro.

   • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook from the Mac App Store require a Microsoft 365 subscription to create and edit documents.
   • One-time (perpetual) Office licenses such as Office 2019/2016 are not compatible with apps downloaded from the Mac App Store; those require Office apps downloaded directly from Microsoft instead.

There is no separate “Mac option” or Mac serial-number registration step for Microsoft 365; installation and activation are done by signing in with the licensed Microsoft account on the MacBook Pro.
