Do you have an error message on your screen when you try to activate Word (or any Office app ?)
Launch any Office app, and make sure you're signed into your Microsoft account : you can do so by clicking on the "Sign in" icon in the top-left corner of any Office app. Once signed in, the license should be applied to your Office installation. (if you see a pop-up asking you to log into Microsoft 365, close it. You need to reach the "sign-in" button in the top-left corner of any Office app).
If you have any other error message, try to uninstall Office Mac by following this tutorial : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/uninstall-office-for-mac-eefa1199-5b58-43af-8a3d-b73dc1a8cae3.
Then, remove the Office license files using this tool : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/how-to-remove-office-license-files-on-a-mac-b032c0f6-a431-4dad-83a9-6b727c03b193
Once done, reinstall Microsoft Office by going on your MS account dashboard : https://account.microsoft.com/services. Find Office, click on "Install" and follow the steps.
