Windows 10 product keys cannot be generated or provided.
To use Windows 10 legally in a VM, a valid license is required:
- If Windows 10 was purchased online, the 25-character product key is usually in the confirmation email.
- If Windows 10 came in a box or on physical media, the key is typically on a label or card inside the box.
- Many modern devices have the product key embedded in firmware; when installing the same edition of Windows 10, the key is applied automatically and activation uses a digital license instead of a manually entered key.
- If Windows 10/11 was previously activated on the same hardware (or VM configuration) with a digital license, reinstalling the same edition may activate automatically without entering a key.
If a key cannot be found in email or packaging and there is no existing digital license for that VM, a new Windows license must be purchased. Microsoft does not keep a record of individual purchased product keys.
