    Hello Dave Neil,

In MSFS 2024, error 2047 is a cloud save sync failure — the sim is having trouble syncing your save state to the cloud. This is not a corrupt installation and your personal data (logbook, flight hours, achievements) is tied to your Microsoft/Xbox account, so that's safe.

Here's what I'd suggest trying, in order:

Step 1 — Rule out add-on conflicts first

    • Navigate to your MSFS 2024 install directory — by default it's usually under: C:\Users[YourName]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\Packages
    • Find the Community folder and rename it to something like Community_backup
    • Find the StreamedPackages folder and clear its contents
    • Relaunch the sim and check if the error still appears

    Step 2 — Full reinstall

If it's still happening, a full reinstall is the next reasonable step. Before uninstalling:

    • Back up your control bindings — found in the same Packages directory under UserCfg.opt
    • Back up your graphics/settings file if you've customized them

Your logbook and account-linked progress will be fine — those are stored server-side under your Microsoft/Xbox account.

To uninstall, go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps, search for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and select Uninstall. Reinstall via the Microsoft Store or Xbox app.

Error code 2047 for Microsoft Flight Simulator is not described in the provided material. However, there are supported steps that can be used to repair Flight Simulator issues without intentionally deleting personal data such as saved flights or settings.

Use the following methods in order, testing Flight Simulator after each one:

    1. Run Flight Simulator as administrator
Some activation or startup issues are caused by insufficient permissions.
      • Right-click the Flight Simulator shortcut.
      • Select PropertiesShortcut tab → Advanced.
      • Enable Run as Administrator and confirm.
      • Start the game from this shortcut.
    2. Install all Windows Updates
Missing or damaged components such as .NET, Visual C++ or DirectX can cause game errors.
      • Select StartAll ProgramsWindows Update.
      • Select Check for updates.
      • Select View available updates / Important updates are available.
      • Select all important updates and install them.
      • Restart Windows and try Flight Simulator again.
    3. Perform a clean boot and then reinstall Flight Simulator
This targets interference from background software and repairs damaged game files. Game content is removed and reinstalled, but personal files stored outside the game folder (for example, documents, screenshots, or backups) are not affected. a. Uninstall Flight Simulator
      • Open Control PanelAdd/Remove Programs (or Programs and Features).
      • Select the Flight Simulator entry (for example, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000, Flight Simulator 2002, Flight Simulator 9).
      • Choose Remove and follow the prompts.
      b. Delete the Flight Simulator program folder
      • Select StartRun.
      • Enter "c:\Program Files\Microsoft Games" and select OK.
      • In Microsoft Games, right‑click the Flight Simulator folder (for example, Flight Simulator 2000, Flight Simulator 2002, or Flight Simulator 9) and select Delete. Confirm deletion.
      c. Perform a clean boot
      • Follow the clean‑boot steps in 331796 to prevent background programs (antivirus, utilities, etc.) from interfering with setup.
      d. Reinstall Flight Simulator
      • Insert CD1 (or the main installation media) for Flight Simulator.
      • Run setup and reinstall the program.

If the issue is related to activation or a time‑trial/activation loop in Flight Simulator X specifically, also try:

    1. Run Flight Simulator X with administrative credentials
      • Use the same Run as Administrator steps above.
    2. Run the Software Licensing System Reset tool (Flight Simulator X only)
      • Follow the instructions in article 928080 referenced under “Method 2 (for Flight Simulator X only): Run the Software Licensing System Reset tool” to reset the licensing system, then start Flight Simulator X again.

These steps repair the installation and licensing components without intentionally erasing unrelated personal files. For extra safety, back up any custom aircraft, scenery, or saved flights stored in the Flight Simulator folder before deleting it.
