When adding apex alias recordset in Azure DNS to redirect to Azure Front door, I get "The feature AliasAfdx is not available."

When adding an apex alias recordset in Azure DNS to redirect to Azure Front door, I get "The feature AliasAfdx is not available."

This happens in Azure CLI, in the portal for Azure DNS, and in the portal for Azure Front Door.

I'm on Azure Front Door Standard, I have permissions on the root subscription that includes both the DNS zone and the Front Door endpoint, everything is in the same resource group, and Microsoft.Network is registered in the subscription (also re-registered it just in case).

Any thoughts on a quick resolve here?

If you've configured a root domain in Front Door and want to create an alias record for it in the Azure DNS zone, that's not possible directly in Azure DNS.

Alias records must be created at the Front Door level. After you add the root domain and complete validation, you'll see a mapping record option at the Front Door level.

Generating this record will automatically associate it with your DNS zone.

@Praveen Bandaru This error also occurs when following the path you suggested (adding the DNS record via Front Door itself). It's the same error I get when adding via any other method.
