Accessing Microsoft Teams using organizational or personal credentials
Dear @Keerti Kabadagi,
I understand your concern. In this case, it can be fine to sign in using your work email, as long as the account is a work or school account created and managed by your organization/tenant. These accounts are designed for Microsoft 365 business services and are typically set up by an IT administrator.
However, if you personally created a Microsoft account using your work email, this may create a personal Microsoft account, which can lead to sign‑in confusion or conflicts later, especially if your organization also has a work account with the same email address.
To avoid issues, I recommend using a personal email address for personal Microsoft accounts or using your work email only for accounts provided or managed by your organization’s IT admin
If this account is intended for work use and you’re unsure how it was created, please check with your IT administrator to confirm it’s set up correctly as a work account.
Moreover, to better understand your situation and make sure the account is set up correctly, could you please help confirm the following:
- When you sign in at office.com, does it show “Work or school account” or “Personal Microsoft account”?
- Are you using business account to create a new personal account?
- What was the purpose of creating this account (for example: Microsoft 365 subscription, Teams access, trial, or personal use)?
Note: Please understand that as a forum moderator, my role is to provide general guidance and troubleshooting support. I don’t have access to internal systems or backend tools, and I appreciate your understanding of these limits.
I hope the information is helpful. Thank you for your patience and understanding. I'm looking forward for your reply.
The first response may not always resolve the issue right away, but with your help and more details, we can work toward a solution.
