The extra account is most likely another Microsoft account (for example, a work/school or personal account) that has been added to Microsoft Teams Free.
To review or remove it, use these steps depending on device:
On desktop or web
- Open Teams.
- Select the profile picture in the top-right corner.
- In the account list, check which accounts are shown.
- If it is an account that should not be there, select it, then sign out of Teams:
- Select the profile picture again.
- Choose Sign out.
- Sign back in only with the correct account using the guidance in the sign-in article.
On mobile
- Open the Teams app.
- Tap the profile picture or More.
- Under Accounts and Orgs, review the accounts listed.
- Tap the unwanted account, then sign out from that account:
- Tap the profile picture again.
- Tap Sign out.
If the unexpected account is a work or school account and Teams is missing work/school features (Teams app missing, no assignments, etc.), verify that the correct work or school account is added and selected. If needed, add the correct account from the profile menu and switch to it.
If the account truly does not belong to the device owner (for example, appears compromised or unknown), also sign out of all Microsoft apps on the device and contact support via the Teams support links for further investigation.
