A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
To back up files from an old Android phone into OneDrive, use the OneDrive mobile app to upload your content and (optionally) turn on camera backup for photos and videos.
1. Install and open OneDrive
- On the old phone, install the OneDrive app from the app store if it is not already installed.
- Open OneDrive and sign in with the Microsoft account that will store the backup.
2. Manually upload files and folders
- Open the OneDrive app.
- Tap the (+) icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Select Upload.
- Browse the phone’s storage and choose the files (and folders, where supported) to upload.
- Repeat for other locations (e.g., Downloads, Documents, app folders) until all needed files are uploaded.
3. Automatically back up photos and videos (optional) If the main goal is to back up photos and videos:
- In the OneDrive app, tap the Me icon (upper left) > Settings > Camera backup.
- Turn Camera backup On.
- Turn Include videos On if videos should also be backed up.
- If using a metered mobile data connection and data usage is a concern, turn Upload on metered connections Off so uploads occur only on Wi‑Fi.
4. Verify files in OneDrive
- After uploads complete, open the Files or Photos views in the OneDrive app to confirm that the content is present.
- Optionally, sign in to OneDrive on another device (PC, tablet, or web) to confirm that everything is available there as well.
This process backs up the selected files and media from the old Android phone into OneDrive so they can be accessed from other devices later.
