Manually deleting Microsoft Edge from C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft is not a safe or recommended method. Removing program folders directly can break Windows components, cause update errors, and potentially corrupt WebView dependencies that other apps rely on. Ending processes in Task Manager and force-deleting files can also trigger system protection mechanisms.

Microsoft Edge is integrated into Windows, so in many versions it should not be fully removed through normal file deletion.

To uninstall Microsoft Edge, you can follow these steps:

    1. Sign in to the Microsoft Intune admin center if you are managing devices with Intune.
    2. Navigate to Apps > All Apps > select the Microsoft Edge app.
    3. Go to Assignments and select Add group.
    4. In the Add group pane, choose Uninstall.
    5. Select the groups of users that you want to apply the uninstall assignment to.
    6. Click Select on the Select groups pane and then OK on the Assign pane to set the assignment.
    7. If needed, you can exclude any groups of users from being affected by this app assignment.
    8. Finally, select Save in the app Assignments pane.

Make sure to remove any group assignment for install before assigning them to be uninstalled to ensure the app is removed successfully.

If you are not using Intune, you can also uninstall Edge by using the installer from the Microsoft website to reinstall Edge over the existing installation, which can help resolve issues with the current installation.
