I bought a laptop in China and installed the English language pack, but everything that is displayed now is a mix of Chinese and English. How do I fix that?

    Hi there!

This issue you have is actually common as the device itself might still be detecting the locale language where the device was manufactured. There is a way to check this on the settings.

You can follow the steps below:

    First, press Win + R

    1. Type: intl.cpl
    2. Go to the Administrative tab
    3. Click Change system locale…
    4. Select: English (United States) (or your preferred English variant)
    5. Uncheck “Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support”
    6. Click OK
    7. Restart the PC

Once done, check again if there are still mix of Chinese and English language in your system. If there is, go to the settings next following:

Press Windows key and search for > Settings → Time & Language → Language & region

    1. Under Windows display language, select English
    2. Under Preferred languages:
      • Move English to the top
      • Remove Chinese (after reboot if needed)
    3. Click English → Language options

From there, you can check if everything is properly installed. If it is, restart your PC and check again.

I hope this helps and apologies for the long steps above!
