Hello Microsoft Academic Verification Support Team,

I am receiving the message “Sorry, your academic status could not be verified” when attempting to verify my student status.

I have already:

  • Added and verified my official school (.edu) email address

Linked my LinkedIn account to my Microsoft account

Ensured my LinkedIn profile includes my university information

Signed in using the same Microsoft account associated with my school email

Despite this, the verification continues to fail.

Could you please clarify:

The specific reason my academic status is not being verified

Whether my institution is supported in your verification system

If manual verification is required, what exact documents are acceptable (e.g., student ID, transcript, I-20, enrollment letter)

Please let me know what additional steps are required on my end to complete verification successfully.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards, LikithaHello Microsoft Academic Verification Support Team,

I was able to use the option to verify in a different way. The system sent the same automated verification email, and this method worked like a charm. Just input accurate information before submitting to verify. Hope this helps!

If you are receiving a message stating that your academic status could not be verified, it could be due to several reasons:

    1. Institution Eligibility: Your institution may not be recognized as a Microsoft Qualified Academic Institution. You can check if your school qualifies by verifying its academic status through the verification wizard or contacting support.
    2. Domain Verification: Ensure that the domain of your school email is correctly entered and recognized. If your academic domain is not recognized, it may require further verification.
    3. Manual Verification: If manual verification is needed, you may be required to provide documents such as:
      • Student ID
      • Transcript
      • I-20 form (for international students)
      • Enrollment letter

To resolve the issue, you should log in to the Microsoft 365 admin center and check the status of your school's academic eligibility. If it indicates that further action is required, you can create a support ticket for assistance. The support team will guide you through the necessary steps to complete the verification process.

Make sure to provide any requested documentation promptly to avoid delays in the verification process.
